The Baroque guitar (c. 1600–1750) is a string instrument with five courses of strings and movable frets. The first (highest pitched) course sometimes used only a single string.

- 9 Gut frets on neck and 3 walnut frets on soundboard.
- Scale length: 660mm.
- Special Aquila Nylgut strings are used ( Best alternate for natural gut strings)
- Suggested tuning from high to low:E4, E4, B3, B3, G3, G3, D4, D3, A4, A3 (can vary depending on player preference)
